This is a brooding wine that is just starting to open up. It improved with air. Purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose is concentrated with cassis, iodine, graphite and spice. Full bodied. Medium tannins. The palate is also concentrated with cassis and spice. Deep but stubborn. Give it a decant. Drink over the next ten to fifteen years. This will work well with grilled lamb chops or grilled portabellas.
A wow red blend to be sure. This has 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Cabernet Franc, 8% Petit Verdot, 8% Malbec and 5% Merlot. Still young, this was pop and pour and rocking from the get-go. Purple in color. The nose is great with cassis, plums, cigar box, graphite, baking spice and slight cedar. On the palate, this is full bodied yet very concentrated. Powerful and intense. This was interesting. Pop and pour and there were light notes of what might have been TCA. Very intermittent. I decided to let the bottle sit over night (closed with a neutral cork) and check back the next day. If the bottle was off with TCA, it would be worse the next day. On the other hand, the next day, this bottle was clean as a whistle and drinking quite well. Not sure what was going on, but glad I waited and gave it a chance. Dark purple in color, ruby at the rim.
