This was a great vintage in Ohio (something that happens only once or twice a decade). This Riesling at age 18 showed very well but don't wait much longer on it. It was made in an "Auslese" style (their words). Deep golden in color with some amber hues (think well aged Sauternes). Clear and bright. The nose is great with a bit of petrol along with honey, apricots, dried oranges, slight lemon peel and slight minerality. Medium to full bodied. Viscous texture. Nice acidity. On the palate, this is sweet. The sugars have become more concentrated with age, but not cloying and the acidity works well with it. Delicious. Flavors of apricots, honey and slight citrus. Good finish. This is lovely on its own and will work with well with a less sweet dessert such as Pound Cake. It is showing age and on the way down, so I would drink in the next five years or so.
