This is a Cabernet from Australia.  At the time, Australia was trying to find itself and its style and this is made in higher alcohol, lower acidity style that was popular at the time but has since lost favor.  The odds were not in its favor at age 19 but it showed well.  Purple in color, opaque and bright.  The nose shows cassis, cedar, slight mint along with a pruney note.  Full bodied.  Light tannins at this point.  On the palate, this still has a lot of fruit.  Cassis with some mint and prunes.  Good finish.  If you liked this wine on release (and still do), then this is drinking well and should have another five to ten more years.  Personally, I don't mind the alcohol or the warmth, but others feel differently.  It is well made.  It is nice on its own but probably better with some food.  It would work well with grilled meats such as RIbs or a Burger.
