Probably my favorite Napa Syrah.  It is made at the top of Mt. Veeder by the married couple of Steve Lagier who has a long history of working at some of the top wineries in Napa and Carole Meredith, retired professor and one of the leading wine DNA experts in the world.  Purple in color with a tinge of ruby, opaque and bright.  The nose has black raspberries, black pepper, roasted meats, floral notes and char.  Full bodied.  Light tannins.  Great acidity.  On the palate, at age 19, this is complex and delicious.  Layers of black raspberries, boysenberries, black pepper and char.  Long finish.  This is pretty close to peak but should drink well for another ten years.  This will work well with most (non seafood) foods.  It would be a great match with Pork Vindaloo (or Cauliflower Vindaloo).  This winery recently announced their closing due to retirement.  There are sill newer vintages available which make great buys.
