Golden in color. The nose has orange peel and honey. Just gorgeous. On the palate, this is amazing. The orange peel carries thru along with some orange and apricot. Great acidity that cuts thru the sweetness. It is sweet, just right. Complex and deep. Long, long finish. Drinking quite well right now, but no hurry. Just a lovely wine.
Always a pleasure to drink Rieussec. It is one of the great wines from Sauternes. This year it also comes in a spiffy new bottles that is very different. A blend of 89% Sémillon, 9% Sauvignon Blanc, 2% Muscadelle according to the winemaker's notes. Golden in color, clear and bright. Wow, this is stunning. What a great vintage. Medium gold in color with slight darker hues, clear and bright. The nose is big with apricots, honey, orange peel and crème brulée. Full bodied. Viscous texture. Excellent acidity. Great energy and balance. On the palate, this is deep and complex. Layers of fruits, dried fruits and other tastes. Apricots, honey, oranges and caramel. Long finish. This is fantastic on its own and will work great with a plain cookie or cake. Drink over the next thirty years.
Yquem might be the single greatest wine in the world. Yes, those are bold words, but it is arguably true. This bottle was wonderful indeed. Paired with Mango roses in a Rose water and honey sauce, it was sublime. Light golden in color, this wine is still quite young. The nose is amazing with slight apricot, lots of honey and orange peel. On the palate, slightly sweet, not cloying. Honey and apricot. Long finish. A good year if not great. Nice value. Drink over the next five to ten years. It works well with a shortbread (not too sweet) cookie.
