Purple in color. The nose is very nice with cassis, cedar, slight leather and graphite. On the palate, this is fruit with some depth. Slight tannins. Some complexity. Nice cassis fruit on the palate. Overall, this is very good and approaching maturity. Probably won't get better but no hurry either. Worked well with food.
This is the third review on Intowine for this wine and all three score 100 points. This is a great wine! It is debatable how long this will last but betting the over seems like a safe bet. Conn Valley is slightly out of the way in the Napa Valley, but this winery continues to make great wines at fair prices. It was nice to be able to try one with a bit of age on it. I had last tried this wine on release and from Magnum when it was more about potential. That potential has been (mostly) realized. There will be further development but it is close to maturity. This is showing to be the equal of the 2007 and the best wine ever made by Thomas Rivers Brown which is no faint praise. An exceptional bottle of wine that while young now is incredible and may still improve. It will certainly evolve. One can debate if a 100 point wine can get better on a philosophical basis. There is no question that this is a 100 point wine now, so what happens if it does improve? In any event, this is a shimmering, bright, opaque purple in color.
