For wines that are purchased on release and cellared for years, it is rare to hit a bottle at its exact prime. Often the bottle is opened too early, or too late. Wine lovers often discuss which is better. But this bottle, seemed to be at peak. What a pleasure. Purple in color, ruby at the rim. The nose has cassis, cigar box, and a classic Margaux perfume/floral note. On the palate, this is lively with cassis layered with tobacco with earth. Great mouthfeel. As good as this wine can be. Depth and complexity. Contemplative but will work well with foods. Nice finish. No hurry on this, but don't miss it either.
