A friend brought this over knowing I like older Champagnes. Apparently, a prior bottle had been over the hill and my friend wasn't sure about this one. I unwrapped the cage and pooped the cork and there was a firm if a bit muted "pop" and a release of gas. The wine frothed when poured into a wine glass. The mouse was full but faded quickly (at least some of that was due to the choice of glass). Deep golden in color, clear and bright. The nose is slightly oxidized but that is the Krug house style. A bit of Brioche with apple pie filling and a touch of ginger ale. Full bodied. Lively acidity. On the palate, this (bottle) is drinking well. The apple pie notes and ginger come out. For the next hour, it kept improving and showing younger. Then just when it seemed at is apogee, the bottle was empty. We had it with some cheeses and hummus and crackers, and it worked nicely. If you are lucky enough to have any, it won't get better, so worth opening sooner than later. Of course, it's a bottle by bottle thing at this point which makes buying even a well stored bottle, somewhat tricky.
