Background: MAZZONI Toscana Rosso is a blend of two of the world's greatest grape varieties created by two distinguished winemaking families--Italy's Franceschi and the Terlatos from the United States. This partnership has flourished for more than 30 years, with each family bringing its expertise in the given variety. This Super Tuscan was handcrafted at a state-of-the-art winery with 100% estate grown fruit grown in the southwest zone of Montalcino. It boasts concentrated ripe dark berry aromas and flavors. The Sangiovese provides a firm backbone and substantial body, while the Merlot brings a luscious mouth feel and lingering finish. Two of the greatest winemaking families, two of the world's most prolific grapes, and one wine. The first release of MAZZONI - the fruit of a partnership between the Franceschi (Montalcino) and Terlato (Napa) families - marks a historic collaboration between two of the greatest names in winemaking today. The families' relationship began more than 30 years ago, when the Terlato family began importing Franceschi's historic Brunello di Montalcino from Italy - one of Italy's most coveted and collected wines, made from 100% Sangiovese, the quintessential Tuscan grape. Long considered one of the top producers of Napa Valley Merlot, Terlato has now joined with the iconic Franceschi family to produce a classic, elegant Super Tuscan - a blend of Merlot and Sangiovese grown in Montalcino, combining state-of-the-art winemaking technology with Old World terroir and tradition. Passion for quality, respect for tradition, and a steadfast belief in innovation are the principles that led to the birth of this extraordinary Super Tuscan: a hand-crafted wine, blended using estate-grown Merlot and Sangiovese sourced from one of the Franceschi's oldest vineyards in Montalcino, and vinified using the same winemaking technology that has made Napa Valley one of the greatest producers of world-class Merlot. MAZZONI represents a supreme marriage of Old and New World winemaking, guided by shared family values and a desire to create a superior wine - to drink today and tomorrow.
