This is a blend of Grenache 75% and Syrah 15% along with ten percent Cinsault, Mourvedre, and Carignan.  Deep garnet with purple swirls, mostly opaque and bright.  The nose is lovely with cherries, black cherries, spices, black pepper, slight black olives and black raspberries.  Medium to full bodied.  Slight tannins.  On the palate, juicy black cherries and cherries with spice and char.  Nice finish.  This drinks easy on its own and will work well with grilled meats, fowl or veggies.  Drink over the next three to five years.

Another great value in Cotes du Rhone.  Purple in color, mostly opaque and bright.  The nose is great with black cherries, cherries, floral notes, spices, and black olives.  Medium bodied.  Good acidity.  On the palate, this has nice depth and some complexity.  Black cherry fruit with some cherries and just a hint of strawberries.  Nice texture.  Light tannins.  Good finish.  This is delicious on its own and will work well with food.  This would be a classic match with cassoulet.  Drink over the next three to five years.

Cotes du Rhone wines have been and continue to be some of the best values in wine.  This is a blend of Grenache, Carignan and Syrah.  Purple in color with some ruby hues, mostly opaque and bright.  The nose is interesting and nice with black cherries, black raspberries, spices, slight purple flowers and slight chocolate.  Great full bodied texture.  Good balance.  On the palate this is delicious.  It has depth and some complexity.  Flavors of black cherries, black raspberries, spice and char.  Nice finish.  This is great on its own and will work well with food.  This is a great choice for g

Very nice value in Chablis.  Light gold in color with some hay hues, clear and bright.  The nose is great with lemons, slight Granny Smith apples, and a bit of crushed shells.  Medium bodied.  Nice texture.  Good balance.  On the palate, this is nice.  Nothing profound but good wine that is drinking well.  Flavors of green apples with slight lemons and minerality.  Long finish.  This is nice on its own but better with food.  A nice choice for grilled Halibut.  Drink over the next five years.

It has been difficult but I finally managed to keep my hands off a bottle to let it get ten years of age.  The result?  It was fantastic but not necessarily better than it was at age 5, just different.  Golden in color, a bit deeper, clear and bright.  The nose is big and fresh with lemon curd, vanilla, minerality and spice.  Full bodied.  Great balance.  Light tannins.  On the palate, this is deep and complex.  Flavors of vanilla lemon cream with some spice and minerals.  Delicious.  Contemplative.  What a great Chardonnay.  Great on its own but  probably better with food.  This would be e

This is another great value from this winery (See our note on the Silk Route Smooth Red Blend).  It is a blend of Alicante Bouschet (50%); Shiraz (30%); and Touriga Nacional (20%).  Purple in color, opaque and bright.  The nose is big and intense with aromas of black cherries, black currants, cherries, and dark chocolate.  Medium  bodied.  Good balance.  Light tannins.  On the palate, this drinks well right now.  It may still improve as it comes together more.  Flavors of black cherries, black currents, black pepper and some dark chocolate.  Nice finish.  Drink over the next five to eight y

This is a very interesting red blend from Portugal.  The attractive days harken to the 15th century when Portugal was one of the leading countries exploring the just forming silk route from Europe to the Orient.  This wine is a blend of Tinta Roriz (40%); Baga (40%); and Merlot(20%).  Deep garnet in color, mostly opaque and bright.  The nose is very nice with aromas of cherries, slight cranberries, white pepper, chocolate and just a hint of sea air.  Medium to full bodied.  Light tannins.  Good balance.  Enough acidity to put it all together.  On the palate, this is tasty.  Flavors of cherr

Washington’s Columbia Valley has long produced Cabernet. Though vine plantings started in the 1960s, it was the 1930s that saw the plantings of traditional grapes like Cabernet and Chardonnay. Now the Valley is well know and producing some very good wine. On initial opening of the 2022 Greenwing Cabernet, there is noticeable jammy fruit and as first an overt sweetness. But this Cabernet needs time to evolve and within 45 minutes the sweet fruit has subsided and the tannins and oak take over, giving you a quality Cabernet.

Having recently tried the 2022 (https://www.intowine.com/reviews?region=&varietal=&uid=Loren+Sonkin&scor...) it was great to be able to try the 2023 version.  it is a  blend of Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Mourvedre, and Rolle grapes.  Salmon pink in color with some orange hues, clear and bright.  The nose is great with plenty of force.

This is a blend of 60% Grenache, 35% Syrah, and 5% Viognier from southern France.  Salmon pink/orange in color, clear and bright.  The nose has cherries, slight strawberries, floral notes, salinity, and slight citrus.  Light to medium bodied.  On the palate, pink grapefruit comes out along with a touch of strawberries.  There is some residual sugar here making this almost demi-sec.  Tasty.  Good finish.  This is a light and breezy wine that is drinking well and reasonably diverse as far as food pairings.  It would be great with a Beet and Roasted Goat Cheese Salad.  Drink over the next year
