I’ve long held that the Rector Creek Vineyard within the Duckhorn portfolio is an exceptional piece of land, and this wine makes the case for it, yet again. Comprised of all petite verdot with 25% zinfandel Paraduxx has created another wine that offers intensity, creativity and a flat out enjoyable drinking experience. This presents notes of blueberry, black cherry, boysenberry, violets, raspberry and hints of tobacco leaf and cocoa powder. It has a soft viscosity and acidity, and with tannins to match. It was aged 18 months in French oak, 60% of those barrels being new, so the oak is not overpowering.
