One of the better Malbec's I have tasted.  It is named for one of the owners of  Domaine Bousquet.  This is 100% Malbec from the Domaine Bousquet home (certified Organic) vineyard grown at 4,125 feet.  Purple in color, opaque and bright.  The nose is powerful with plums, black raspberries, slight coffee, and spice.  Full bodied.  Medium tannins.  Good acidity.  On the palate, this has a velvety texture.  Dry but a perception of ripeness.  Flavors of plums, black raspberries and underlying char.  Long finish.  This is young but very tasty.  Drink over the next eight to twelve years.  This wo

Ruby in color, purple swirls, mostly clear and bright.  The nose brings the barnyard funk but also some black cherries and a bit of cigar box.  Medium bodied.  Firm tannins.  On the palate, this has depth and complexity.  Much cleaner on the palate, but still some Brettanomyces.  Black cherries with some leathery notes.  Menthol on the finish.  This is very nice on its own but probably a bit better with food.  It would work well with Lamb Stew but also Roasted Vegetables.  At or past peak, this should be consumed over the next five years or so.

I used to drink a lot of this but somehow it fell off my radar.  Tasting this, I am reminded how good it is.  Made from Chenin Blanc grapes.  Pale, silvery gold in color, clear and bright.  The nose is expressive with flint, some chalk, some green apples and a bit or orange rind.  Full bodied.  Lovely texture.  Great acidity.  On the palate, the chalk and green apples come thru along with some herbal notes.  Clean.  Persistent finish with some heat.  This is delicious on its own and will work well with lighter foods.  An interesting match would be chicken salad.

Green/gold in color, clear and bright.  The nose is nice with pineapple, very slight oak and a bit of minerality.  Medium bodied.  Slightly oily texture.  On the palate, an interesting combination of some pineapple and some green apples.  It works.  There is a nice depth despite its youth.  Long, persistent finish.  This is lovely on its own, but seems very food friendly.  Sea food of course, but also a nice wine with say Hummus.

One of the more unique wines tried.  This is from a winery in the West Bank (Palestinian Authority) of Israel.  The winery was founded in 1885 and run by Salesians since 1891.  The grapes Hamdani and Jandali are indigenous to the region and grown near Bethlehem and Hebron.  Golden in color with some green hues, clear and bright.  The nose is fragrant with stone fruits, green apple and some citrus.  It is a heavier wine although the grapes are grown in a cooler microclimate at 2,600 feet.  Moderate acidity.  Nice, slightly oily texture.  On the palate, some peach, slight pineapple but also s

Orange/gold in color, clear and bright.  The nose is  nice.  Nutty, slight vanilla and a "Bourbon" note.  Full texture.  Warmth on the palate with a smooth nuttiness.  Also some warmth on the finish.  A little goes a long way, but this was a nice way to end a meal.

Purple in color, ruby at the rim, mostly opaque and bright.  The nose has raising, black raspberries, milk chocolate and char.  Full bodied.  Viscous texture.  On the palate, black raspberries, black cherries, kirsch, milk chocolate and raisins.  Deep and complex.  At or near peak but probably another ten to fifteen years left.  Great with Blue Cheese, this would also work with a chocolate dessert.

Deep garnet in color, mostly opaque and bright.  The nose has milk chocolate covered raisins.  Full bodied.  Viscous.  On the palate, slightly sweet with milk chocolate covered raisins.  Tasty.  Some depth.  Some heat on the finish.  This is at or just past peak.  Drink up.  Nice on its own and worked well with Blue Cheese.

One of my favorite Rhone varietal producers in California.  It is a blend of 61% Syrah, 24% Mourvedre, 13% Grenache and 2% Viognier.  This wine gets extended barrel ageing.  In my experience, the extended barrel ageing requires more patience and cellaring and this wine is very young.  That said, for those who like big, ripe in your face wines, there is plenty to like now.  For others, a bit of patience will be amply rewarded.  Inky purple in color, opaque and shimmering bright.  The nose has black raspberries, char, black pepper, violets and slight roasted meats.  Full bodied.  Firm tannins
