Orange/gold in color, clear and bright. The nose is nice. Nutty, slight vanilla and a "Bourbon" note. Full texture. Warmth on the palate with a smooth nuttiness. Also some warmth on the finish. A little goes a long way, but this was a nice way to end a meal.
Yquem might be the single greatest wine in the world. Yes, those are bold words, but it is arguably true. This bottle was wonderful indeed. Paired with Mango roses in a Rose water and honey sauce, it was sublime. Light golden in color, this wine is still quite young. The nose is amazing with slight apricot, lots of honey and orange peel. Viscous and sweet, not cloying. The orange peel and honey carry thru. The thing about Yquem is the finish. It goes on forever and ever. Very nice acidity in 2011. Golden in color. The nose has orange peel and honey. Just gorgeous. On the palate, this is amazing. The orange peel carries thru along with some orange and apricot. Great acidity that cuts thru the sweetness. It is sweet, just right. Complex and deep. Long, long finish. Drinking quite well right now, but no hurry. Just a lovely wine.
From a 375 ml. Golden in color with slight orange hues, clear and bright. The nose is nice with honey, peaches and a slight dried orange rind note. Viscous. Sweet, not cloying. Enough acidity to match the sweetness. On the palate, honey, apricots and slight peach. Clean. Long finish. Very tasty. This probably has twenty years left. A nice match with a not too sweet cake.
Always a pleasure to drink what is arguably the greatest wine in the world. Not the best and not the worst vintage. At age 27, this is mature but with decades left. Red/orange in color, clear and bright. The nose is great with apricots, peach, honey and marzipan. Slightly viscous. Complex on the palate. Moderate acidity. On the palate, honey, Crème brûlée with just a bit of underlying char. A finish that goes on forever. Delicious. This drinks great on its own and will work with a more savory dessert, but that is not necessary.
