2025 Cresta Blanca Sauvignon Blanc, USA, California, Livermore Valley, Wine Review

Cresta Blanca is a project of the Wente Winery.  This is 100% Sauvignon Blanc.  Slightly translucent in color with hues of green/gold.  Clear and bright.  The nose is initially tight but quickly opens to show hay and slight lemon peel.  The nose is very like a "Loire" Sauvignon blanc.  Neither grassy nor gooseberries, but clean (not cat pee).  Medium bodied.  Slightly oily texture.  On the palate, nice lemony note with some warmth especially on the finish.  Overall, a very nice Sauvignon Blanc that needs a bit of food to come together.  Goat cheese would be a nice match.  Perhaps a Goat Cheese and Roasted Beet Salad.  Drink over the next few years although it will be interesting to see if this ages.
