This is a blend of 75% Sauvignon Blanc and 25% Semillon from Bart and Daphne Araujo’s home vineyard, Rancho Pequeño. More "Loire" in style but clearly from California. Pale golden in color, clear and bright. The nose is subtle at first. With air it opens a bit to show lemon peel, slight floral notes and almonds. Medium to full bodied. Nicely balanced. On the palate, this has some depth although still showing tight. Flavors of lemons, slight almonds and a hint of minerality. Good finish. It will be interesting to see if/how this ages. I suspect it will go ten years with no problems and gain a lot in complexity. That said, it is very good right now with a bit of air. Nice on its own, it will be better with air. It would go nicely with goat cheese salads but also a creamy Risotto.
