Italy, north to south, is making white wines that are wonderful and still fairly priced. This one is 100% Grillo made in Sicily. Grillo is a late 19th-century crossing of Catarratto and Zibibbo. Light golden in color, clear and bright. The nose is complex with lemons, minerals and the slightest bit of char/smoke. Medium bodied. Good acidity. Nice crisp but creamy texture. On the palate, this is very minerally until the finish where some lemon candy (but dry) comes out. The kind of finish that makes one want another sip. This should drink well for another three to five years. It was perfect with grilled, stuffed spicy peppers.
