2022 Bodegas Luis Cañas Rioja Viñas Viejas Blanco, Spain, Wine Review

This is a white blend of 85% Viura ,10% Malvasia grapes and 5% Tempranillo Blanco fermented in wood barrels.  It is a very impressive wine.  Golden in color, clear and bright.  The nose is lovely with lemons, slight tangerine, salinity, minerality and a touch of spice.  Medium to full bodied.  Great balance.  On the palate, this is deep.  It opens quickly in the glass to show lemons, minerality, spice and slight tangerine.  Long finish.  This drinks great on its own and will work with many foods.  A nice choice for grilled scallops, this will work well with pork or chicken as well.  Drink over the next few years, but it would not surprise me if it lasted longer.  Outstanding value!
