2021 Michael Angelo's Cabernet Sauvignon Wildflour, American, Wine Review

This was my second time trying this and confirmed that this is a very nice Cabernet and had improved a bit with further cellaring. It may yet have even more upside. Purple in color, ruby at the rim, opaque and bright. The nose is nice with cassis, and black cherries but also a bit of coffee beans and char. No noticeable green notes this time. Full bodied. Medium to full tannins. On the palate, still of course primary, but there is plenty of depth there. Also, plenty of fruit. Any reductiveness seems to have blown off. Nice finish. This is very enjoyable. It drinks nicely on its own and went very well with an Avocado Hummus.

This is made with grapes grown on the West Coast and shipped to Ohio. Purple in color with garnet hues, opaque and bright. The nose is great with cassis, black cherries, and a slight herbal (chervil?) note. Full bodied. Gripping tannins. On the palate, black cherries and cassis with some char and slight reductive (burnt rubber) notes. Good acidity. Long finish. This needs a few years of cellaring to integrate and then should drink well for another eight to twelve years. It would work well with Lamb Stew or a Cassoulet.

Apparently made from Washington state (Red Mountain) fruit that is then shipped to Ohio. Packaged in a Burgundy shaped bottle. This was very good and really made me take notice upon trying. Garnet in color with purple hues, mostly opaque and bright. The nose needs some air to get going, but then shows nice black cherries, figs, roasted vegetables, and slight coffee grounds. Full bodied. Firm tannins. On the palate, lots of black cherry fruit along with a slight coffee and spice. Good acidity. Long finish. This could use a few more years in a good cellar to get where it is going bu

This is a Cabernet from Washington state. It actually also has 4% Merlot. Purple in color, a bit of ruby at the rim. Opaque and bright. The nose is very nice with black cherries, plums, some baking spice and a slight liqueur note. Full bodied but not over blown. On the palate, this has juicy black cherries, plums, slight blueberries with some underlying char and a bit of minerality. Good balance. Nice finish. This is 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot, 5% Malbec and 2% Petite Verdot from Washington state. Deep garnet in color, mostly opaque and bright. The nose has cassis, char and slight dark chocolate. Full bodied. Silky tannins. On the palate, black cherries, cassis, slight chocolate and a bit of spice. Some minty and bitter cherry notes on the finish. There is some depth here and it may improve a bit with short term cellaring. It is nice on its own, but seemed better with food. Of course, a burger would do, but it worked great with Felafel. Drink over the next five to eight years.

In a recent tasting of Washington wines, this was the groups Wine Of The Night. Pretty impressive for a wine that was purchased for $20. It is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose has cedar, plums, cassis and dark chocolate. Medium to full bodied. Medium tannins. Some depth and complexity. Juicy acidity. On the palate, lots of cassis, some black cherries and a bit of char and ash. Tasty. This is drinking well now and is the kind of wine that would be popular at a party.
