Crozes Hermitage wines can be some of the best value in red wine. They are Syrah based wines that are ageable and delicious. In this case, the wine is 100% Syrah from the Northern Rhone. Purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose is great with black raspberries, slight black olives, a bit of red currants and a lovely violet note. Medium bodied. Medium tannins. Great energy and balance. On the palate, this is concentrated yet drinks easily. Flavors of black raspberries with some red currants and a hint of earthiness. Deep. In time, the complexity with develop. There is also a nice acidity that makes this wine a bit better with food. A nice choice for grilled or roasted meat or fowl and also vegetables. Drink over the next eight to twelve years.
