2021 Domaine Pierre Martin Sancerre Rosé Chavignol

This is a Pinot Noir based Rose from the Loire Valley in France. Very refreshing at 13% abv. Light salmon/pink/orange in color, clear and bright. Medium bodied. Lightly viscous. On the palate, a bit of a sweet tart note along with some tart orange notes especially on the finish. This wine will work better with some food to tame the acidity. A summertime watermelon and feta cheese salad would be perfect. Drink over the next year or two.

No winery is more famous, or produces such legendary wines in Burgundy than Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. Often abbreviated as DRC, the winery makes some of the most exclusive and expensive wines in the world. This was accidently added to a tasting of Loire Cabernet Franc. It is of course, Pinot Noir. Certainly not a fair way to sample the wine as it was only after the wines were unveiled that the mistake was identified. A couple people did say it was Pinot like which is very impressive. Still, here is the tasting note.

Great label with lots of info. The base wine for this NV wine is 2013. it is 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay. This bottle was disgorged on 04/2018. It is also a really good wine. Medium gold in color. The nose has apples, honey, and slight ginger and minerals. On the palate, this has a nice backbone of acidity. Tart apple fruit. Lots of depth and complexity. Long finish. This is drinking well now and should for at least the next five to seven years. It will work with just about any food.

This is a great value in Pinot Noir. Deep garnet/purple in color, mostly opaque and bright. The nose has cherries, black cherries, and spice. Clean. Medium bodied. On the palate, black cherry fruit with some spice. Good finish. This is a surprisingly bigger and riper Pinot (for France) than expected. That is not to say over done. Good finish. Nice on its own, this should work well with many foods. Salmon would be nice. It was nice with pasta in a mushroom sauce. Drink over the next five to seven years.
