Purple in color with deep ruby swirls, opaque and shimmering bright. The nose is wonderful with cassis, black cherries, slight cigar box, plums, baking spices and char. Full bodied. Firm tannins. Great energy and balance. On the palate, this is young and tight but with an hour or so of air, it really opens up very nicely. Flavors of black cherries and cassis with some spice and char. Long finish. This needs about another five years of good cellaring and then should drink well for the next ten to twenty years. A very impressive wine. Great on its own, it will work well with bigger foods. It would be a nice pairing with a Brisket.
