This is one of the best values in wine. It is basically a blend of the better barrels that didn't make it into the varietal or vineyard designated wines. In fact, the Sineann Red Table Wine (also a great value) gets the wine that didn't make it into the Abondante. This wine sells for around $20, and it is always a crowd pleaser. This vintage is mostly Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel as well. Purple at the core, ruby at the edges, mostly opaque and bright in the glass. The nose is nice with black cherries, cherries, char, chocolates and spice. Great texture. Good balance. On the palate, cherries and black cherries with some chocolate and underlying char. Good finish. Drinking well now and should continue for another five to eight years. Nice on its own, this is a classic mid-week dinner wine for almost any meat, fowl or veggie dish.
