Fast becoming one of my favorite Rhone varietal producers. This is a blend of 94% Syrah, 3% Mourvèdre, and 3% Roussanne from California. Inky purple in color, opaque and shimmering bright. The nose is powerful with black raspberries, black olives, slight black chocolate, violets, spice and slight earthiness. Full bodied. Medium to firm tannins. Great energy and balance. On the palate, flavors of black raspberries, char, slight dark chocolate and earth. Long finish. Delicious. This is still young and should still improve but it is so good right now. Drink over the next twenty years. Great on its own, for now it will take big food to match. A hearty chili should do the trick.
