SQN's Grenache are some of the most unique expressions of the varietal anywhere. They are big and fruit forward, but they have depth and energy as well. And, they can age better than most. This is a blend of 77.5% Grenache, 10% Mourvedre, 8.3% Syrah, 3.3% Petite Sirah and 0.9% Viognier. Inky purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose has raspberries, black cherries, chocolate, spice and char. Full bodied. Medium tannins. On the palate, this is delicious. Raspberries, black cherries, black raspberries make a wall of fruit. Underneath is some earthiness and char. Great acidity. Long finish. This is young but accessible. Drink over the next twenty years. Great on its own. It needs bold food right now. Spicy, roasted chicken or duck would work well.
