2018 La Closerie des Lys Les Fruitières Rosé, France, Languedoc, Limoux, Wine Review

This is a nice, easy drinking rose from the south of France, made from Syrah, Cinsault and Grenache. Light salmon/burnt orange in color. The nose has watermelons and orange citrus. On the palate, more viscous than expected. It is dry. 13% ABV on the label. Strawberries with a bit of bitterness on the finish. Some warmth as well. Priced at $14, this is a fine wine on its own on the back deck on a summer night and will work with some lighter foods too. Drink this year.

It really is amazing how Rosé's have really stepped up their game over the last ten to twenty years. And, the buying public has noticed all over the world. This is a blend of 75% Grenache, 15% Cinsault and 10% Syrah. Pale silvery/salmon pink in color. Clear and bright. The nose has cherries, slight strawberries and slight tarragon. On the palate, this is light bodied but has some backbone. Crisp and refreshing. It drinks easy with some complexity. The strawberries carry thru with some underlying minerality. Drink now. Cotes du Rhones offer up some excellent values. Add to that the Rhone Valley (especially in the Southern Rhone) seems to have eight or nine good to great vintages a decade, and it can be a go to source of outstanding values. This wine is certainly one. It appears to be a Grenache/Syrah blend but the exact blend is unknown. The bottle is attractively packaged with an unusual shape and a colorful "Old-timey" label. I don't know where you live, but here on the shores of Lake Erie, its been a wet, cool spring. That might be good for the grapevines, but its put a bit of a damper on drinking outside. A collaboration between Gérard Bertrand, and Jon and Jesse Bon Jovi. HW Wine Company is essentially a company that commissioned this wine to be made in France to celebrate the good life. Light salmon pink in color. The nose is all about watermelon and strawberries. It has a nice texture. Nice acidity. This wine is really all about summer fruit. Not a lot of depth or complexity but tasty and easy drinking. While it is probably made as a summer sipper it went well with a summery watermelon salad. Fun wine.

60% Grenache and 40% Cinsault from the south of France (carrying a Vin de France designation). Pale pink/gold in color, clear and bright. The nose has orange rind and slight strawberries. Nice texture, slightly creamy. On the palate, orange citrus. Medium bodied. Good acidity. Nice, long finish. A nice value in a Rosé. This should be very food friendly and a bit better with food. A nice with with a Niçoise Salad. Drink over the next year.
