Always a great value in white wine. These wines come in a variety of sweetness levels with the Sec being the driest. It is a wine that should do at least ten years if well cellared. Mineral driven with crushed shells and also a hint of orange peel. Great on its own or with sea food or lighter meals. Highly recommended.
Golden in color. Fantastic nose. Clean and expressive. Sea air, crushed shells, apples and honey. On the palate, this has a great backbone of acidity. Slightly oily texture. Minerals, crushed shells with an herbal note. Also some apples. Pinpoint precision. Slight orange citrus on the finish. Seems to be youthful but almost at peak. Of course, it should be at this level for another decade or more. Complex. Great with all kinds of food. These still are under $40 which is a great value.
Huet is perhaps my favorite producer of Chenin Blanc in the world. These are wines that will last for decades and drink well young (with a bit of air). This is one is demi-sec or off dry. Light golden in color, shimmering bright. The nose is pretty with orange peel, slight peach, sea air and minerals. Medium to full bodied. Slightly sweet but not cloying, which is nicely balanced by acidity. Delicious with flavors or oranges apples and peaches over a mineral base. Long finish. The Vouvray's of Huet are my most often opened white wine. 100% Chenin Blanc. This vintage seems to be not a top vintage but the wine is still excellent and a nice value. Light golden in color, clear and bright. The nose is nice with pears, sea air, some orange peel and slight herbal note. Medium bodied. Slightly oily texture. Crisp acidity. On the palate, this is dry (Sec) with pears and slight citrus. Moderate finish. This improved over the three hours it took to drain the bottle (two people). This was a sound bottle. Many of the Huet 2002's are subject to premature oxidation. This bottle was excellent. Chenin Blanc, especially with some residual sugar left, can last for decades. Golden in color, clear and bright and slightly deep. On the nose this has orange peel, crushed shells, salinity and a touch of canned peaches. Medium bodied. Slightly sweet on the palate. Complex.
