Purple in color, ruby at the rim, opaque and bright. The nose is nice with plums, black pepper, and black cherries. Full bodied. Lovely texture. On the palate, plums and cherries with slight char. Clean. Good balance. Long finish. This is young and showing ripe fruit. It is drinking well but may improve with a few more years of cellaring. Drink over the next ten to twelve years. it will work well with braised meats.
Always one of the top Chateauneuf's and also a bit different than most due to the higher amounts of Mourvedre in the blend. Purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose is classic Beaucastel which can be polarizing. Black cherries, plums and a fair bit of barnyard. Very earthy. Full bodied. On the palate, lots of black cherries and plums but cleaner earthiness than the nose. Complex, deep and layered. Long finish. This is at peak right now if well stored. A fine showing for this wine. At age 18, it is drinking well with plenty of time left. This bottle was decanted for sediment and served. It could have used an hour in the decanter or more to really open. The last glass was the best. Deeper ruby in color, mostly opaque. The nose is clean for the most part. Cherries, raspberries, some earthiness and nice minerality on the nose. On the palate, this is medium to full bodied. Plenty of depth with nice layering in the glass. This is a blend of 30% Grenache, 30% Mourvedre, 10% Syrah, 10% Counoise, and the rest is the other permitted varietals. At age 22, it is showing some age and a bit past prime. This bottle had been bought on release and well cellared. Ruby/brown in color, clear and bright. The nose has cherries, dried cherries, soy/umami, and spice. Medium bodied. There are some drying tannins left. Better on the palate. Complex with layers of dried and fresh cherries. Good balance. Nice finish.
This was a very nice bottle. It was clean and must have been well stored all of these years. Ruby in color. The nose has red berries (kind of a cross between cherries and raspberries) with slight violets, roasted herbs and a bit of black pepper. On the palate, this has some depth and a bit of complexity. At or slightly past peak (perhaps) but drinking wonderfully. Cherries with roasted herbs and slight forest floor. Good acidity. Nice finish. No hurry but it won't get better and should probably be consumed in the next five to seven years though it will last longer. It will go with

The nose is great with black cherries, raspberries, plums, roasted meats, slight earthiness and a hint of violets. Full bodied. Complex. On the palate, light tannins. Plums, black cherries, cherries with underlying earthiness. Clean. This should drink well for another twelve to fifteen years. A nice match for beef stew.
