This is a Bordeaux blend from Napa. What a great wine. Purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose has cassis, black cherries, tobacco, spice and slight cedar. Full bodied. Firm tannins. On the palate, this is delicious. Cassis, black cherries, cigar tobacco, just a hint of bell pepper and spice. Complex if tight. It unwinds in the glass. It may yet improve with some cellaring but delicious now. Drink over the next twenty years. Great on its own, this would work great with brisket.

No winery is more synonymous with Napa Valley than Robert Mondavi. And while they make all sorts of wines and at all sorts of price points, this is the one that epitomizes the winery. Somehow, they straddle the line between old and new, corporate yet having a sense of place, and making a wine that is affordable and good value for the quality. The blend of this is 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petite Verdot, 5% Merlot, and 3% Cabernet Franc. It sees 17% New French Oak. Served at a recent Intowine.com tasting, this was quite a hit. A more elegant side of a Napa blends but outstanding. Purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose has cassis, slight cigar, black cherries and spice. Full bodied. On the palate, moderate tannins. Great texture. This is young-ish but delicious and showing some complexity. cassis and black cherry fruit that is concentrated and unwinds in the glass. Long finish. Give this another five years and it should be nearing in on maturity. It should last another twenty after that. Still some upside on this wine. Great on its own or with food. A steak or brisket would be a nice match.

This is a blend of 41% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, and 25% Cabernet Franc made by Thomas Rivers Brown. Pop and pour, this took about twenty minutes to start opening and then drink very well. Purple in color with a ruby rim, opaque and bright. The nose is nice with cherries, black cherries, baking spice, slight chocolate, a hint of iron and roasted herbs. Full bodied although certainly not over the top. Rich texture. On the palate, this has firm tannins that integrate somewhat with air. Nots of cherries and black cherries with some underlying tobacco and a bit of chocolate. Som

This is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Cabernet Franc, 13% Merlot, and 13% Petite Verdot. Purple in color, ruby at the rim, opaque and bright. The nose is very nice with cassis, black cherries, cigar box, vanilla and slight smoke. Full bodied. On the palate, this has a nice texture. Deep, it unwinds in the glass. Light tannins. Nots of cassis, cherries with some vanilla and a hint of char. This wine comes off as much more elegant than their Cabernet and more seamless. I love Realm wines and this might be my favorite. A blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13% Merlot. Inky purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose has cassis, black cherries, slight chocolate and tobacco with some cedar. This is a very accessible vintage for this wine. Full bodied. On the palate, cassis and black cherries, with some forest floor notes. Firm tannins. Nice balance. Long finish. This drinks very Bordeaux-like for a Napa Cab. It will still mature and like improve over the next ten to fifteen years and drink well for another ten to fifteen after that. A nice wine
