This is a blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot. Ruby in color, clear and bright. The nose is dusty with cherries, and cedar. Full bodied. Medium tannins. On the palate, this has nice depth. Black cherry fruit with slight spice. Good finish. Drinking well now and should drink well for another eight to twelve years. Nice on its own, this will work nicely with lamb chops.
Great showing for this wine from the northwest. It is a blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc from the Champoux vineyard in the Horse Haven Hills. Purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose has cassis, dust, slight black olive, and slight bacon fat notes. Full bodied. Good acidity. On the palate, black cherries, cassis with underlying char. Depth and complexity. Medium tannins. Long finish with some heat on it. This drinks great on its own and will work with bigger foods. Hard to go wrong matching it with a filet. Drink over the next eight to ten years.
One of the stars of Washington wines. Purple, ruby at the rim. The nose is really interesting. It had a spiciness which seems quite unique. Also some black cherries, kirsch, and toast. On the palate, this is still tannic. Plenty of black cherry fruit though, so this should continue to develop. Medium bodied. Plenty of ripeness here but not over the top. Some heat on the finish. It drinks well now, but seems like further improvement is likely. Needs bigger foods to pair with.
Washington state makes some excellent Merlots and "Right Bank" blends. This is another case in point. The wine is a blend of 55% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 9% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet in color, mostly opaque and bright. The nose is classic and enticing. Black cherries, cassis, bell pepper, chocolate, and spice. Nice texture. Great balance. On the palate, at age eleven, this is showing a nice maturity. perhaps just on the younger side of fully mature. This is an excellent value in red wine. It is a blend of 80% Merlot with the remainder Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. Deep ruby in color. The nose has black cherries, black raspberries, dark chocolate and a hint of spice. Medium bodied. On the palate, this has nice black cherry fruit with some depth. Light tannins. Underlying earthiness. Good acidity. Nice finish. This drinks well on its own and should be great with poultry dishes or even a burger. It should be consumed over the next five to seven years.
