This wine is not for everyone. It is rustic, rough and decidedly not a fruit bomb. Yet, for those who like this style, very few areas in the world offer value like Vulture. Grown on the side of a dormant volcano in the "arch" of Italy's boot using 100% Aglianico grapes. This is a sturdy wine that needs air or cellar time. Purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose has black cherries, smoke, black pepper, slight forest floor and burnt coffee. Full bodied. Lacy tannins. On the palate, black cherry fruit intertwines with roasted, dry earth and slight pine forest floor. Good acidity. Nice finish. This should continue to come together for the next five to seven years and drink well for another five to seven after that. This will work great with a charred, thin crust pizza but also with chili or roasts. Great value.
