2015 Dönnhoff Oberhäuser Leistenberg Riesling Kabinett, Germany, Nahe, Wine Review

Screw Capped. Light golden in color. Upon opening there are a slight amount of fine bubbles. It appears to be trapped CO2 which blows of quickly. No harm, no foul. The nose is great with green apples, slight wet rocks, slight lemon and simple syrup. On the palate, this has a fair amount of sweetness. Ripe fruit; citrus and peach. Good balance though. Drinks easy with some depth. Young now and very fresh and vibrant. It will develop over time. Delicious. 9.5% Alc. This will go with a wide variety of foods. Considering the screw cap and the sugar and acid levels, this should have a couple of decades left but it will continue to mature and change. Don't miss trying one bottle now as it is so good.

I love Donnhoff wines and they did quite well in 2010. This one seems to be just about at peak. Medium golden in color. The nose is lovely with wet rock/minerality and a bit of peaches and slight pineapple. Medium bodied. Slightly viscous. Great acidity. On the palate, this is slightly sweet but not overblown for a Kabinett. Pineapple, peach and some lemon with a nice minerals base. Long finish. This is delicious on its own but will work with seafood or fruit salads. It should continue to drink well for another ten to fifteen years.

This is drinking beautifully. Medium golden in color, clear and bright. The nose has pineapple, wet rocks, slight rock candy and slight peach. Lovely semi-viscous texture. Good acidity. On the palate, this is sweet but just a bit. Pineapple and peach with underlying minerality and wet rocks. Long finish. Delicious. This is mature and probably should be consumed in the next ten years. Great on its own, this is very food friendly. It will work great with Peking Duck.
