Another home run for this wine that has been on a tear for the last twenty years or so. Inky purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose is tight but with air shows cassis, toasted oak, black cherries, and herbal notes. Full bodied. Firm tannins. Great balance. On the palate, this is a bit more open than the nose but still tight. Flavors of cassis, tobacco, and char. Almost seamless texture. Long finish. This is delicious but still very young. It needs more cellaring which in turn, will lead to even higher scores. If drinking soon, give it six hours of decanting. It will need big (fatty) foods right now and a grilled steak would be a good choice. Better yet hold for another five years and drink for fifteen or twenty after that.
