Normally, we are quite transparent and informative on our back label.  Since we were all about the blend, our front labels for Persona were often just a California AVA and we used the back labels to inform our customers, especially the wine geeks, what we were doing.  For this bottling, however, we made an addition after the labels went to print.  The bulk of the wine again came from grapes from the White Hawk Vineyard but this time, we added a dollop or two of some California Malbec juice that we were offered.  It really seemed to give it some highs and round out some edges.  The critics must have thought so as this was our highest scoring wine among the major critics.  At age 10, this is singing.  Purple in color and shimmering bright.  The nose is great with black raspberries, black cherries, plums, slight floral notes, black pepper and char.  Full bodied.  Medium tannins.  Great acidity.  On the palate, this is fruit forward with black raspberries, plums, black cherries with underlying spice and char.  Long finish.  Delicious.  Maybe just getting to  peak but should drink well for another then to fifteen years.  It is great on its own and will work well with most (non seafood) foods.  My guess is this will be great with Indian food but also Pizza.
