This is from Washington state. Purple in color, ruby at the rim, mostly opaque and bright. The nose has black cherries, slight spice and dark chocolate with a bit of char. Medium bodied. On the palate, lots of black cherry fruit with some underlying char. Light tannins. Nice finish. This should be drunk in the next few years. It will work nicely with roasted chicken.
This is a lovely Washington Cabernet (from an Oregon producer). Deep garnet in color, mostly opaque and bright. The nose has cassis, dust and a slight minty note. Medium to full bodied. Medium tannins. On the palate, this has cassis, bell pepper and slight tobacco notes. Some depth. Still young but showing some evolution. Nice finish. This is a more traditional (not extracted) Cabernet that seems to speak of place. It will improve with a bit of cellaring. Drink over the next ten years.
The names stems from the original release of this wine back in the mid-90's. The vines used were from one of the younger blocks in the famous Champoux vineyard. Now the vines are over twenty years old and this wine is from the best barrels of the wine. An excellent value in Washington state Cabernet. Ruby in color, clear and bright. This is 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot, 5% Malbec and 2% Petite Verdot from Washington state. Deep garnet in color, mostly opaque and bright. The nose has cassis, char and slight dark chocolate. Full bodied. Silky tannins. On the palate, black cherries, cassis, slight chocolate and a bit of spice. Some minty and bitter cherry notes on the finish. There is some depth here and it may improve a bit with short term cellaring. It is nice on its own, but seemed better with food. Of course, a burger would do, but it worked great with Felafel. Drink over the next five to eight years.
