Light ruby in color. The nose has cherries, slight dust and slight funk. On the palate, this is open and drinking nicely. Some depth. Cherries with slight minerality. This might have a bit of upside with good cellaring but won't make old bones. That's fine as it will make enjoyable drinking over the next 7 to 10 years.
2015 is a great vintage and I was excited to get a chance to try this one. In Burgundy terms, this is certainly a value. It was selling for under $40. Ruby/purple in color. Very bright. On the nose, sour cherries and slight cranberries. Very nice lush texture. Medium tannins. On the palate, a bit one dimensional at this point. Plenty of sour cherry fruit. It drinks more like a new world Pinot than I expected. Perhaps those labels mean less and less these days. This wine is pretty much at peak at this point but drinking quite well. Pop and pour and it was drinking from the get go. Purple in color with a slight ruby line at the rim. The nose has cherries, a slight funk and just a hint of aquarium water. It is better on the palate and more fresh. juicy cherries with some complexity. An underlying earthiness though clean. The fruit is ripe. No tannins. While it drinks well on its own, it would be better with some medium or lighter fare. The fruit is fresh enough to stand up to some spice as well. Checking on a 2005 Burgundy. Not ready yet. Ruby/purple in color. The nose is nice but primary with cherries and spice. On the palate, this has cherries, slight tannins and spice. Pretty monolithic at this stage but it eventually opens with air. Hold these for now.
This was purchased on release and properly cellared. Overall, the bottle took an hour or so to open up and then was drinking fine. It never took that final step to being a top bottle, but it was outstanding nevertheless. Light ruby in color, mostly clear and bright. The nose has a slight earthy funk to it and cherries. At or near peak and drinking well. Garnet in color, clear and bright. The nose is great with cherries, slight funk. slight black cherries and spice. Medium bodied. On the palate, bold cherry and some black cherry fruit. Slight forest floor and mushroom underneath. Nice energy and balance. Good finish. This should drink well for another ten to twelve years. Great on its own, this would work well with salmon or a mushroom dish.
