2014 Abreu Thorevilos, USA, California, Napa, Wine Review

Bottle 3926/4884.  This is a blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Cabernet Franc, 14% Petit Verdot, and 4% Malbec.  Spectacular.  Inky purple in color, opaque and shimmering bright.  The nose is earthy with cassis, chocolate, blueberries, cedar, char, graphite and spice.  Full bodied.  Firm tannins.  On the palate, this is deep and complex. Flavors of cassis, blueberries, slight vanilla, and char.  Long finish.  Delicious.  This is still a bit young but showing some tertiary flavors.  It should drink well for another 25 to 35 years.  It is great on its own and would work well with heavier foods such as Prime Rib or Roasted Butternut Squash.
