This is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc, 6% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and 2% Malbec from Napa. Tasted side by side with the 2013 (and 12 and 15), the crowd was split as to which one was the top wine of the flight. This was my choice. Still very youthful, it took some time to open up, but then just kept getting better. Deep purple in color, ruby at the rim, mostly opaque and bright. The nose has cassis, graphite, black cherries, cedar and spice. Full bodied. Firm tannins. Great texture. On the palate, this is complex and delicious. It has "bass notes" that make a fuller wine than the other vintages. Concentrated. Flavors of cassis, blueberries, slight earthiness and spice. Long finish. It is not at peak yet and no doubt that other bottles may hit the 100 score. This will work well with or without food. It went well with a hearty vegetarian Lasagna. drink over the next twenty years.
