2013 Colgin Cariad Red Wine, USA, California, Napa, Wine Review

This is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc and 9% Petit Verdot from Napa.  At age 12, this shows youthfully.  Inky purple in color, opaque and bright.  The nose is amazing with cassis, dark chocolate, black cherries, tobacco, and char.  Full bodied.  Firm tannins.  Great balance.  On the palate, this is deep, complex and delicious.  Flavors of cassis, black cherries, chocolate and char.  Long finish.  This is not yet at peak and may yet get that 100 score.  No harm opening now though.  It should have another twenty years in it.  It is great on its own and will work well with hearty dishes (not seafood).  It would be great with Lamb Chops or Pot Roast.
