Deep ruby in color, ruby at the rim. The nose is dusty with red berries. On the palate, cherries with slight tannins. It could use a bit more acidity but that is nit picking. Good finish. This seems to be approaching maturity and should have a decade left. Will work with a wide variety of foods, but maybe not spicy ones.
From Magnum. Deep ruby in color. The nose is dusty with black cherries and slight licorice. Quite tight. On the palate, the cherries continue, but this is really tight right now. Seems monolithic. Not sure where this goes from here, but hopefully, it starts to open up in the next couple of years. Doesn't seem to really have great depth but who knows. Perhaps some upside potential. For now, however, it is very good and enjoyable. One of those wines where expectations balance against reality.
Wow. Great wine that has really opened up in the last year. Purple in color, ruby at the rim. The nose has black cherries, black raspberries, spice, and slight floral notes (violets?). On the palate, virtually a seamless texture. Full bodied and full of glycerin. Loads of black cherries and black raspberries. Light tannins. An underlying minerality. Long finish. Needs a bit bigger foods. Just delicious. Still has a decade or two left in it. One of thos sips you can't stop drinking as it tastes so good.
This is still a bit on the young side but with a few hours of air, it drank well. Purple in color, ruby at the rim. Opaque and bright. The nose is nice with cherries, spice, minerals, black raspberries and smoke. On the palate, this is full bodied with a rich, lush texture. Lots of juicy black and red raspberries with underlying pepper, and earthiness. Good acidity. Deep with tight layers that unwind in the glass. Long finish. This is a blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Mourvedre, ad 10% Syrah. Purple in color with ruby hues, mostly opaque and bright. The nose has black raspberries, black pepper, black cherries and garrique. Full bodied. Great plush texture. Excellent balance. Very concentrated. On the palate, this is delicious. It has shed some youth for maturity but should continue to develop. Black raspberries, plums and black cherries with some char. Long finish. Delicious on its own, this worked very well with Sheppard's Pie. Drink over the next ten to fifteen years.
A tremendous Chateauneuf year in and year out. This is drinking great right now. 80% Grenache, 10% Mourvedre, 5% Vaccarese and miscellaneous grapes. Purple in color, ruby at the rim. The nose has black cherries, plums, spice/garrique, slight bacon fat and dried flowers. On the palate, this is just approaching prime. Lush black cherry fruit with plums and underlying spices and earthiness. Great texture. Complex. Vibrant. Long finish. This drinks great on its own and works well with a diverse set of roasted foods. It should drink well for the next ten to twelve years.
