This is a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 1.5% Cabernet Franc, and 1.5% Petit Verdot. At age 15, this is still youthful but drinking quite well as is typical of the vintage. It started out tight but opened up nicely in the glass. Purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose is pretty and classic Margaux albeit on the larger side. Aromas of cassis, floral notes, slight cedar, and spice. Full bodied. Firm tannins. Great energy. On the palate, this is tight but plenty of cassis, some black cherries, slight earthiness and spice. It unwinds nicely in the glass to show layers. Long finish. Drinkable now but another five to ten in the cellar would be better. It should easily go another twenty to thirty years. Lamb Chops would be a nice match but so would a Pasta Prima Vera.
