Gorgeous wine in a great place right now. Inky purple in color. The nose has black raspberries, black pepper, slight roasted herbs and hints of cherry cola. Full bodied. Silky but full texture. Lots of black raspberry and black cherry fruit over gravel, char and scorched earth. Nice acidity. Complex, deep; the layers unwind in the glass. Still some tannins left. Long finish. Just abot at peak but should have a decade to go at this level. Works great on its own and will work with roasts and grilled food.

Pallisades is one of the great Petite Sirah vineyards and Carlisle really nailed it with the 2016 vintage. Inky purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose is great with boysenberries, gravel, blueberries and spice. Full bodied. Firm tannins. On the palate, this is delicious. Boysenberries, black cherries, blueberries with underlying gravel. Clean. Long finish. This is drinking well now but still young and may improve. Drink over the next fifteen years. Nice on its own, this would work well with grilled meats.

Surprisingly open and drinking well with just a bit of air. Purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose is nice with black raspberries, some blueberries, slight char and a bit of black pepper. Full bodied. Juicy texture. On the palate, this is deep with some complexity. Certainly, it will gain complexity with more ageing. This is one wine that I almost never open this young. But, you know what? It was great! Sure, it might improve. Probably will, but this is delicious right now. Inky purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose is great with boysenberries, slight black raspberries, slight floral notes, and a bit of asphalt. Full bodied with firm tannins. Obviously way too young, but, this was open and delicious. For about an hour or so, and then shut down tight. We recorked and sampled over the next couple nights. Day 2. Still shut down. Day 3. Drinking well and the bottle was drained. Inky purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose has boysenberries, gravel, char and spice. Thick tannins. Good acidity. On the palate, loads of boysenberry fruit with underlying char. Deep but like looking into a bottomless hole. Long finish. Not sorry to have tried it, but the remaining bottles will need a rest. Palisades is one of the best Petite Sirah Vineyards anywhere. Now, that is somewhat a backhanded compliment as there just aren't that many of those vineyards. Still, this is one worth checking out. Inky purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose has boysenberries, char and slight spice. Full bodied. Firm tannins. On the palate, juicy black raspberries with underlying gravel and char. Long finish. This is very young and although approachable, it will get better. It could really use about ten years in the cellar. Patience will be rewarded. In any event, this makes good drinking
