Silvery gold in color. The nose has slight baked bread and slight citrus. A nice head of lots of tiny bubbles. On the palate, this is all about minerality and smoothness. There is some citrus. Great length on the finish. This is incredibly versatile with food although hearty meats might be pushing it. Great on its own as well. Seems like this is a step up from the 2004.
Nice to revisit this one again (other notes are posted on this site). It is always interesting to follow a wine over time. What was a very concentrated and precise wine on release has started to broaden out and showing some development. It is still a youthful wine with plenty of energy at 13 years from vintage. Light golden in color with a nice frothy mousse with tiny bubbles. The nose has a bit of yeast/baked bread with a lemon peel note. On the palate, this has a nice citrus over a slightly earthy quality. Good acidity. Long finish. This is showing a nice complexity and depth. W
Always a treat though this is starting to show some age (in a good way). Light golden in color, clear and bright. The mousse isn't as frothy as it had been not as persistent, but still present. It is a blend of 53% Pinot Noir and 47% Chardonnay. The nose is great with yeast, ginger, slight char, and slight nutty note. Full bodied. On the palate, this is deep and complex. Some apples, ginger, char and nuts especially on the finish. Long finish. Great on its own, this is incredibly versatile with food. It worked well with grilled, spiced radishes.
A stellar vintage for this luxury cuvee from one of the older Champagne houses. In a market that has exploded in pricing, this is one of the better values in luxury cuvee's. This vintage is 92% Pinot Noir and 8% Chardonnay. Silvery gold in color, clear and bright with a nice mousse of lots of tiny bubbles. There is some fruit on the nose (pears) but its mostly about minerality/chalk with a bit of smoke. Full bodied but yet lean and racy acidity. The minerality and chalk carry thru to the palate. Some light cherry notes compliment it well. This is exciting to drink and one of the bet
This is the top "Luxury Cuvee" from this Champagne house. They nailed it in 2008 and while it might not be quite at the levels of some of the top Champagnes, it isn't priced like they are either. Always nice to revisit this wine. This time it was in a tasting with other sparkling wines and tasted blind. It started out quite tight and took some time to open up. It continued to open up all night long. it was the groups wine of the night though not mine. Light golden in color. The nose has a lemon/citrus quality to it along with minerals and slight ginger. On the palate, the citrus carries thru with nice minerality. Good acidity. This is just starting to enter its peak period and should be good for another decade or more before slowly starting to fade.
