2006 Louis Roederer Champagne Cristal Brut, France, Wine Review

This is a blend of 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay.  Medium gold in color, clear and bright with many tiny bubbles.  The nose is clean with pears, chalk, slight vanilla, and slight char.  Full bodied.  Good acidity.  On the palate, flavors of cherries, peach, slight ginger and char.  Very smooth.  Long finish.  This is drinking well now and may still develop.  It should drink well for another ten to fifteen years if well stored.  It is very food friendly and will go with just about anything.  Someone drinking with me suggested Fried Chicken and that would certainly be a good match.
