One of my favorite wines, this bottle showed well especially after about six hours of air.  Ruby/brick in color, mostly clear and bright.  The nose has cherries, dried cherries, bramble, slight earthy mushrooms, and tart cherries.  Medium bodied.  Light tannins (finally).  Great backbone of acidity.  On the palate, lots of complexity and depth and deliciousness.  Flavors of cherries, bramble, spice and char.  Long finish.  This is nice on its own but really needs food to shine.  It was perfect with Vegetarian Lasagna.  It is not for everyone, but for those who like high toned Italian wines, this is great.  Drink over the next ten years.
