Third bottle from the case and by far the best yet. The first two had serious Brettanomyces issues but this bottle was relatively clean. Decanted for sediment before serving. Deep garnet in color, mostly opaque and bright. The nose is deep with cherries, black cherries, leather, slight iodine and spice. Also, just a hint of earthiness. Full bodied. Tannins mostly resolved. On the palate, this is showing some age at 30 years from vintage. No surprise there. That said plenty of cherry and black cherry fruit along with earthy but clean notes and slight forest floor. Complex and deep. Very good finish. This drinks well on its own but better with food. It went very well with a Cheesy pasta dish. Seems about at peak and it will be bottle to bottle from here, but this has really held up beautifully.
