One of my favorite Bordeauxs in what has proven to be a bit of an austere and difficult vintage (at the time of release there was some optimism especially from Wine Spectator).  Still, great producers make great wine even in difficult vintages.  Purple in color with just a slight note of browning at the rim.  Mostly opaque and bright.  The nose has cassis, cherries, dried fruits, slight chocolate and dried herbs.  Medium bodied.  light tannins.  Good acidity.  On the palate, this is fully mature and probably a bit past.  Complex and deep with layers of cherries, black cherries, tobacco, and earthiness.  Moderate finish.  Drink up as these won't get better.  It will work better with food and would be a nice wine with a steak or Lamb Chops.
