1984 Dominus Estate, USA, California, Napa, Wine Review

This is a mostly Cabernet Sauvignon blend from Napa made by the owner of Chateau Petrus in Bordeaux.  At age 31, this is showing its age but still offers up some interesting facets.  Purple in color with slight browning towards the rim, mostly opaque and bright.  The nose has cigar box, dried currants, cassis, dust and spice.  Medium to full bodied.  Tannins mostly resolved.  On the palate, flavors of cassis, slight dried currants and spice.  Good finish.  This has some complexity and depth.  Blind, most guessers would likely guess Bordeaux.  it is better with food and should work nicely with complex flavors.  A Lamb stew or Roasted Chicken should work well.  Drink up.
