What a treat to taste this wine.  At age 61, it certainly exceeded expectations.  Purple in color with some ruby hues and a slight brown/orange rim.  Mostly opaque if a bit flat in color.  The nose is classic.  There is a nice Bordeaux funk with cigar box, slight barnyard and dust along with a bit of cherries, and dried cherries.  Just a whiff of spice and char.  Medium bodied.  Tannins just about all resolved.  Nice balance.  On the palate, this is complex with some fruit left and and lots or tertiary flavors.  Cherries, dried cherries, earthiness and forest floor flavors.  Good finish.  This is obviously fully mature and while certainly past peak, this bottle offers plenty of interest and enjoyment.  Nice on its own, this would be a nice bottle with a Lamb Stew.  Of course, at this point, every bottle is its own adventure.
