This was a friends birth year wine. Not sure when it was released or what the exact blend is. The wine is ruby/orange/brick red in color but clear and reasonably bright. The nose features light cherries, cranberries, slight funk, slight dusty old drawers but mostly clean. Medium bodied. Strong acidity. No tannins. On the palate, there is still some fruit left. Cherries and some cranberries with plenty of complexity. This begs for some food and worked well with Stuffed Mushrooms. Had this side by side with a 2019 version and (assuming it is the same varietals) it is impressive how well it was drinking at age 71. Very cool to taste a wine older than me as that happens rarely and especially for a table wine. If pressed to assign a score, maybe an 88 but that would be ignoring history and the "cool" factor.
