Another producer I have not had before (I need to get out more again).  Light golden in color, clear and bright.  None of the pinkish hues normally associated with Pinot Gris.  The nose is interesting with fresh kumquat (yes, you read that right) and a slight waxy/fleshy note.  On the palate, this is slightly viscous.  Notes of oranges with decent acidity.  It finishes with a touch of sweetness.  This is pleasant and easy to drink although it doesn't come off as a typical Pinot Gris.  Drink over the next few years.  It drinks great on its own and will work with lighter foods.  A nice wine f

This is a nice, well priced, Pinot Grigio from northeast Italy.  Silvery/green/gold in color, clear and bright.  The nose has limes, seltzer and a floral (white?) note.  There is also an underlying minerality.  On the palate, this is crisp.  The limes carry thru as does the underlying minerality.  Easy drinking on its own.  This will work with lighter foods such as salads or sushi.  Drink over the next year or two.

This is a lovely Pinot Grigio from Sicily.  It comes in a tinted green clear bottles, but the wine is silvery copper/gold in color.  On the nose there is a nice steeliness to it along with some limes.  With air, a bit of chalk emerges.  Nice acidity with a slightly oily texture.  On the palate, this is dry.  Notes of lemons and wintergreen.  Slight tannins.  The finish has sour lemon candy.  This is a big wine with some warmth to it.  Very refreshing on its own but worked better with a Watermelon, Feta and Mint salad.  This should be consumed in the next two or three years but the sooner th

Silvery gold in color, clear and bright.  The nose has chalk and slight peach note.  On the palate, this is oily which is good.  Plenty of minerals with some bitters.  Also a slight peach note.  Good acidity.  Long finish. This is a basic wine that provides great value.  It should be drunk in the first year or so to enjoy it's freshness.  It will go well with salads, seafood and lighter foods.

This is an inexpensive Pinot Grigio from Washington state.  It costs about $10 which is fair.  Light white gold/copper in color.  The nose is light but mostly minerals.  Easy drinking although it finishes bitter.  Has some acidity.  If this is the option at a party, it is fine.  Drink now.

Do you like affordable, easy drinking white wines?  Then look for this one.  This is authentic and as good as wine costing twice the price.  Will it blow your doors off?  Probably not, but for $15, you will have no regrets.  Food friendly or on its own.  Light copper gold in color.  The nose is great with minerals, mountain air (think cold and fresh) and a hint of lemon peel.  On the palate, this is refreshing.  Slightly more than lean texture.  Made for drinking young.  Lots of verve.  Good finish.

Green/gold in color (not the typical copper notes).  The nose is nice with minerals and limes.  Slightly oily texture.  This is all about minerals on the palate.  Slightly sour lime note.  There is a bit of warmth but only 12.5% Alc.  Very food friendly with all but the heartiest of foods.  At $10, this is a great value.  Drink now.

CLE Urban Winery is located in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.  They are essentially a wine bar that gets juice from California and other places and makes their own wine which is sold at the bar.  The labels feature different scenes of Cleveland.  This one features the brick street that is the heart of Cleveland's Italian community.  The wine is light golden in color.  The nose has tangerine and orange with a slight minerality.  On the palate, this is big and fruity.  Tangerine with some sweetness.  It is not deep but it has enough acidity to be refreshing.  While it does not have the minerality n

Ohio actually has some of the longest wine making traditions in this country.  Prior to, and just after, Prohibition, the area along the southern shores of Lake Erie was one of the leading winemaking areas in the country.  These days, there are still many wineries producing many excellent whites and dessert wines, and the occasional quality red.  Most, however, follow the tourist model, often combining restaurants or Inns and providing entertainment in addition to serving their own wines.  The wine was from one of those.  That doesn't mean the wines are not good or worth buying.
